Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has confirmed that he will be missing the tour of Pakistan and the beginning of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 due to his wedding in late March.
Maxwell, who was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 11 crore, had hinted after the T20 World Cup that he might be missing the start of IPL 2022.
On Tuesday, the 33-year old said that he had consulted Cricket Australia for a two-week break in March, but felt it was unavoidable due to the change in schedule.
"Originally when I organised the dates with CA there was a two-week gap where I could potentially have it," Maxwell told home broadcaster Fox Cricket after the third T20I against Sri Lanka.
"So when I sorted that out I was pretty happy that I wasn't going to be missing in any series. And then I came to the [CA] contract meeting midway through last year and they said well this is [when] the Pakistan series [is on] and I thought well obviously that's changed since the last conversation we had," he added.
Australia, who will be touring Pakistan after a gap of 24 years, will play three Tests, three ODIs and a lone T20I from March 4 to April 5. Ahead of the Ashes, Test skipper Pat Cummins was certain that few of the players from the core group might miss the tour due to various reasons.
