Mayank Agarwal rushed to hospital after a mid-flight medical emergency

The batter was declared “clinically stable” after an initial check-up at a hospital in Agartala

Karnataka skipper Mayank Agarwal was involved in an unfortunate accident. He accidentally consumed a liquid from a bottle kept in front of him on the flight, and it caused a burning sensation in his throat and mouth. On Tuesday, He was admitted to a local hospital in Agartala, Tripura. 

Agarwal was travelling from Agartala for his next Ranji game in Surat against Railways, starting this Friday. He had a bout of vomiting in the flight and deboarded. The rest of the team went towards their destination.  

PTI quoted Tripura Health Secretary Kiran Gitte on this incident. Gitte said, “A team member of the Karnataka Ranji Team, Mayank Agarwal, accidentally drank a water pouch while travelling on a flight. He immediately had a burning sensation. His condition is stable. We hope that he will come out of this very soon. Investigation is underway.”

The authorities of KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) and the team manager requested Tripura Police to investigate the incident. An FIR was filed at the New Capital Complex Police Station in Agartala. 

He had swelling and ulcers in his mouth. His condition is normal, and his vitals are stable. His manager has made a complaint. We are registering the complaint and will investigate the matter,” said SP West Tripura Kiran Kumar K.

Indigo Airlines also confirmed through a press statement that “Indigo flight 6E 5177 operating from Agartala Delhi returned to original due to a medical emergency onboard.”

After this incident, Agarwal’s participation in Karnataka’s next game is highly unlikely.
