Tearaway quick Mayank Yadav has been named in Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)’s playing XI for Match 45 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 27 (Sunday).
The right-arm quick, who can consistently touch the 150 KMPH mark, is playing his first game of the IPL 2025. Mayank last played a competitive match on October 12, 2024.
Mayank then suffered a lumbar stress injury and has been out of action since then. The 22-year-old’s comeback got delayed further due to a freak injury he suffered, with the pacer injuring his toe while kicking the bed.
Even in the last IPL, Mayank featured in only four games before being ruled out of the competition due to an injury. He picked up seven wickets in those games and impressed everyone so much that he made his T20I debut for India in October last year.
Even LSG retained him for INR 11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Mayank has been brought into the playing XI in place of Shardul Thakur.
LSG, who have won five of their nine fixtures in the IPL 2025, won the toss and decided to bowl first against MI, who have handed a debut to South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch.
