After bowling just one over against Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants’ Mayank Yadav walked back to the dressing room. In the first glimpse, it seemed like a piece of bad news for Lucknow, who already were without their speedster Mark Wood.
But in a conversation with broadcasters Star Sports after the clash, Krunal Pandya revealed that Mayank was okay, further adding that it is quite a ‘relief’ for the franchise. Mayank is currently the hottest property in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with calls from all corners for the Indian selectors to include him in the T20 World Cup later this year.
"I don't know what is happening but I did have a brief couple of seconds' chat - he seemed okay, which was quite a relief for us," Krunal said on the broadcast.
Krunal also talked about Mayank’s development, stating that the Delhi-born cricketer used to bowl ‘gun’ in the nets, something that the franchise had always kept notice of. Mayank started his IPL career with consecutive Player of the Match awards.
"A bright prospect, I'd been watching him from last two years. He used to bowl gun in the nets. Last year, unfortunately, missed it [due to injury]. But again, whatever conversation I have had, what I see is that he has a good head on his shoulders as well,” Krunal said.
