Mehidy Hasan earns himself all-format central contract

Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Liton Das are the others in the all-format category

On the back of several good performance across the format, the 25-year-old Mehidy Hasan has earned himself a central contract in all the three formats. The all-rounder now joins the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Litton Das to get a contract in all the three formats.

The 21-member list released by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also had Mushfiqur Rahim, who has now been demoted to a contract only restricted to ODIs and Tests. Earlier, Mushfiqur retired from the shortest format of the game after he was snubbed from the 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia.

"It's right that he was very much part of our team across format but he could not deliver as per our expectation and that is the reason he is not been included in the central contract," BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

Shoriful Islam too has not retained his all-format contract. Zakir Hasan, who stood out in the recently concluded two-match Test series against India has earned himself a contract in the longest format. Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan, Naim Sheikh and Yasir Ali have all failed to retain their place in the contract list.

"The other three cricketers - Joy, Shadman, Naim - also failed to fulfill our expectation," he said. "We feel Zakir has a bright prospect, and as a result, we included him in the contract list for the Test category."

All formats: Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Taskin Ahmed and Mehedy Hasan.

Tests and ODIs: Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Only Tests: Mominul Haque, Taijul Islam, Ebadat Hossain, Khaled Ahmed and Zakir Hasan.

Only ODIs: Mahmudullah

Test and T20s: Nazmul Hossain and Nurul Hasan.

ODIs and T20Is: Mustafizur Rahman, Afif Hossain, Shoriful Islam.

Only T20Is: Mahedi Hasan, Mossadek Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud.
