NEWSMumbai Indians (MI) may have lost their final Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Abu Dhabi, but skipper Rohit Sharma is very proud of what the team has achieved in the last 5-6 years.
Needing a 171-run victory to sneak into the playoffs, MI put up 235 on the board but managed to win the game by just 42 runs in the end. "When you play for a franchise like Mumbai, you are always expected to perform. I wouldn't call it pressure. More than anything, it is the expectation. What we have created as a group stands out in the last 5-6 years," Rohit said at the post-match presentation.
Further speaking of the season, Rohit said, "It was very tough to drop some players. But we had an on-and-off season. We had a fabulous run as a franchise. We can be very proud of what we have created. We were just getting into the momentum of winning games in Delhi, and then there was a break in between."
"Once we came here (to the UAE), there was a collective failure as a group. But very happy with the win today; we gave everything, and I am sure it was entertaining for the fans too."
The five-time champions finished fifth in the IPL 2021 table with 14 points from seven matches, missing out on a place in the top four due to an inferior net run-rate.
