Rishabh Pant and his falling ramp shots have got a lot more appreciation after he found success in England with twin centuries in the Headingley Test. One of his biggest fans has been former England captain Michael Vaughan.
The 50-year-old was in awe of the maddening batting approach of the Indian wicketkeeper.
Speaking on the Stick to Cricket show, Vaughan said, “There’s a lot of science in that madness, the way that he plays. You can see even Ben Stokes is admiring when he’s batting.”
The former Yorkshire batter compared Pant to wicketkeeper batters like Australia’s Adam Gilchrist and Indian great MS Dhoni and said how his game, suited for the white ball, is more successful with the red ball format.
“Adam Gilchrist, for me, is the best wicketkeeper-batter. But Pant just set a new trend. I mean MS Dhoni, across white ball cricket, was fantastic," he said.
"You would think with the way that he plays, Pant would be completely suited to the white ball game and not so much the Test game, but his Test record is miles better than his white ball record,” Vaughan added.
