Arthur, Bradburn, Puttick move on from Pakistan coaching roles

The trio were part of the Pakistan backroom staff during the ODI World Cup in India

The trio of Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick have decided to move on from their roles with Pakistan Cricket, the board announced on Thursday (January 18). They were assigned duties at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after the ODI World Cup in India in November 2023 but have resigned from their respective positions.

Arthur, who previously had a stint with Pakistan between 2016 and 2019, joined the side as director in April 2023, while Bradburn and Puttick were appointed as the head coach and batting coach, respectively.

"All three individuals informed the Pakistan Cricket Board of their decision to leave their respective jobs by the end of January 2024," the PCB said in a release.

"The decision was taken amicably between all the stakeholders."

Arthur will continue his role as the head coach of Derbyshire, a role he juggled alongside his duties with the Pakistan side. A week ago, Bradburn signed on as the head coach of Glamorgan on a three-year deal, while Puttick joined the Afghanistan team as their new batting coach.

With wholesale changes within the PCB, the three were reassigned to different roles as the temporary committee did not have the authority to relieve them from their respective duties. They did not travel to Australia for the Test series, with Mohammad Hafeez acting as head coach and team director and Adam Hollioake as batting coach.

Pakistan were whitewashed 3-0 in the series, and now, in the ongoing T20Is against New Zealand, they trail the seven-match series 3-0.

Following the conclusion of this series, Pakistan will clash against England in four T20Is from May 22-30 before getting their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign underway against the USA on June 6 in Dallas.
