Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, expressing his inability to spend long times in the bio-secure bubble. He had conveyed this to the BCCI and also the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) a few days ago, according to Cricbuzz. England batsman Jason Roy has been named as his replacement.

Roy in his two seasons in the IPL has played played eight matches - three for Gujarat Lions and five for Delhi Capitals - scoring 179 runs at a strike-rate of 133.58, which includes one fifty.

Marsh, who was purchased for his base price of INR 2 crore in 2020 played just one match for SRH before twisting his ankle and eventually was ruled out for the rest of the season. West Indies captain Jason Holder was roped in as a replacement. The Australia all-rounder was recently part of the T20I series against New Zealand and before that turned up for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL). He scored 315 runs at 39.37 at a strike-rate close to 148 in the tournament.

SRH begin their IPL 2021 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 11 in Chennai.
