Mithali Raj, Dinesh Karthik Named In Star-Studded Commentary Panel For Women’s World Cup

Raunak Kapoor and Jatin Sapru from India will also be part of the commentary panel

Former Indian skipper Mithali Raj has been named to the commentary panel for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup in India, which starts on September 30 in Guwahati. Raj, who played for India for almost two decades, is one of the stalwarts of the game and the leading run scorer in women’s ODI history.

Dinesh Karthik is the other big name from India as he has already made a name for himself as a broadcaster after multiple stints of commentary for Sky Sports.

“To witness the Women’s World Cup being staged across India and Sri Lanka is deeply gratifying,” Raj said on the announcement.

“It’s not only about celebrating the best in the world, but also about inspiring a new generation of girls who dream of playing cricket. Having been part of this journey as a player, I’m excited to share insights from the commentary box now and shine a light on the players who will shape the future of our sport,” she added.

Apart from the two, the commentary panel is full of women’s World Cup winners like Mel Jones, Isa Guha, Stacy-Ann King and Julia Price. Along with them, the panel also has Sana Mir from Pakistan, Anjum Chopra from India, and Katey Martin from New Zealand. Kaa Naidoo, Natalie Germanos and Natasha Farrant are also going to commentate on the games.

Amongst the men are former World Cup winners Aaron Finch and Carlos Braithwaite, along with Nasser Hussain, Ian Bishop, Mpumelelo Mbangwa, Russell Arnold along with broadcasters Raunak Kapoor and Jatin Sapru.

Jio Star is the production and broadcasting partner of the ICC for this upcoming World Cup, that’s beginning in a couple of days.
