The qualifier 1 between Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings, on July 9 (Wednesday) in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, was washed out due to heavy rain in the region after the toss. Due to the match being abandoned, the Freedom qualified directly for the final, as Faf du Plessis’ side would now have to play in the Challenger.
Why so?
Washington Freedom finished the MLC 2025 group stage with 16 points, two ahead of TSK, as the table toppers. It was that advantage that took them to the final directly, given that the Qualifier 1 clash did not have a reserve day in place.
It will be Freedom’s second final in as many years, and an opportunity for them to add to their trophy cabinet. While the toss took place, the match was severely delayed due to the heavy downpour in the city, with the match officially called off at 9.45 pm local time in Dallas, nearly three hours after the official start time (7 PM).
TSK will now await the winners of the clash between MI New York and San Francisco Unicorns in Challenger.
