Mohsin Khan a promising prospect, good that India has that resource: Jason Holder

The LSG pacer has picked up nine wickets at 10.11 in IPL 2022 so far at a miserly economy rate of 5.35

Mohsin Khan has been one of the finds of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. He has picked up nine wickets this season at a miserly economy rate of 5.35. He continued his excellent run in the tournament with yet another magnificent spell, this time against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), giving away just six runs in his three overs and getting the wicket of Baba Indrajith too along the way.

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder reckons Mohsin is a promising bowler and India are lucky to have such a resource at their disposal.

"Mohsin has been outstanding. He is one of those bowlers who can be deceptive with his pace, his bounce and his skill. He has shown he can move the ball, bowl at high pace and has shown variations in terms of his slower balls," Holder said at the post-match press conference.

"It is very promising to see someone like that. He is left-arm as well, which is a rare commodity these days in international cricket. Maybe since Zaheer Khan, India hasn't had an out-and-out steady left-arm seamer in their XI. So, it's good that India has that resource and I wish him all the best."

Speaking of the bowling gameplan against KKR, Holder revealed that the idea behind bowling short to the top-order batters was to be aggressive.

"We wanted to be aggressive. The wicket had a bit in it. We wanted to use the wicket as much as possible," Holder said.

"The bowlers were very accurate and precise with their plans and it was good to see the fielders support them. The ploy was to be aggressive and the wicket has enough in it."

LSG have plenty of bowling options at their disposal which is a healthy headache to have. They have so much quality that the likes of Marcus Stoinis has barely got a chance to bowl, which is not bad after all, according to Holder.

"The make-up of the attack is a good one. We've got a lot of variety in terms of a left-arm seamer, we've got pace, we've got skillful bowlers," Holder, who picked up three wickets against KKR said.

"The good thing is that any fast bowler can bowl at any stage of the innings. The captain's got options.

"Ravi Bishnoi has played a big part and so has Krunal Pandya. We haven't really used Stoinis, but he is a handy bowler as well. So, it's good to have options. It's good at this point to be picking up some good momentum."
