Morgan slapped with 12 Lakhs fine for KKR's slow over-rate against CSK

KKR have just won one match out of their four IPL 2021 matches so far

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan has been fined INR 12 lakh as his side maintained a slow over-rate in the 18-run loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday (April 21). This was KKR's first over-rate offence under the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct.

According to the IPL guidelines, if the teams were to repeat this again during the tournament, the captain will be docked INR 24 lakh and the rest of the team will be slapped with an INR 6 lakh fine or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is lesser.  However, for the third offence the captain will not just pay a hefty fine of INR 30 lakh, but he will also be banned for a match while the rest of his team will have to cough up INR 12 lakh or 50 percent of their match fee, whichever is lesser.

After being reduced to 31 for 5, KKR did extremely well to reach 202 against CSK, thanks to some fantastic hitting from Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik and Pat Cummins. KKR have now won just one out of their four matches and take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) next on April 24.
