Follow UsFormer Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India star Ambati Rayudu believes that despite CSK languishing at ninth spot, with just one win from five games, MS Dhoni can lead them to the playoffs this season by ‘weaving his magic’.
Dhoni last led in the final of IPL 2023 but stepped aside before the first game of IPL 2024, handing over captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, 43-year-old Dhoni will captain CSK for the remainder of IPL 2025 with Gaikwad out with an elbow injury.
“First of all it’s very sad that Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the IPL,” Rayudu said in a video posted by ESPNCricinfo.
“But all the fans will be definitely extremely excited to see MS Dhoni lead CSK again. He can always pull out his magic and make CSK qualify from here. It will be one great story.
“I am very, very excited and I hope that he weaves his magic all over the CSK team.”
CSK have won five IPL titles, and Dhoni has been the captain every single time they’ve won the IPL. Meanwhile, CSK have been disappointing under Gaikwad, losing 11 games while winning just 8. CSK failed to make the playoffs in IPL 2024 under Gaikwad.
