MS Dhoni Has Been Dismissed By THESE BOWLERS In The IPL - Did You Know?

Do you remember when he was dismissed by THESE bowlers in the IPL?

With 264 appearances to his name, MS Dhoni has played more games in Indian Premier League (IPL) history than any other individual. He is not just one of the most successful captains ever in the league but also one of the best-ever batters to have played, having smashed 5,243 runs at an average of 39.13 and a strike rate of 137.5.

Dhoni has had such a long IPL career that it’s only normal to forget certain moments in his career. Do you remember when he was dismissed by THESE bowlers in the IPL?

Mohammad Asif

A very unlikely name first up: Pakistan’s Mohammad Asif. The two faced off against each other twice in the IPL, both in the inaugural edition in 2008. In their first meeting, which came at Chepauk, Asif took only six balls to get the better of Dhoni.

However, six days later, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Dhoni got his revenge (sort of), taking 12 runs off 10 balls bowled by the Pakistan talisman. It’s a massive shame that we never got to see these two craftsmen cross paths again due to Pakistan players getting banned from the IPL.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni’s long-term teammate at CSK, has dismissed his former skipper not once but twice in the IPL. Do you remember when and where?

The first instance came way back in IPL 2011, when Jadeja was, in fact, representing Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Jadeja managed to get a nick off Dhoni, which was safely taken by KTK wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel.

The second instance came in IPL 2017 when Jadeja was playing for Gujarat Lions, and Dhoni was playing for Rising Pune Supergiants. In a clash between the two sides in Rajkot in 2017, Jadeja trapped Dhoni LBW in just the second ball he bowled to him in that particular game.

Andrew Symonds

The late Andrew Symonds is someone against whom Dhoni had little to no success in the IPL. The duo faced off against each other thrice, all in IPL 2010, and across the three games, Dhoni could only manage 15 runs off 16 balls.

Symonds got the better of Dhoni in the very first meeting against the CSK veteran, bowling him in the clash at Chepauk.

Curiously, the pair never faced off against each other once again in the IPL, though Symonds did play in the 2011 IPL, representing Mumbai Indians.
