MS Dhoni’s Detachment From Phone, Social Media Inspired Sai Kishore To Step Back Too
Dhoni has long been known for staying off social media and avoiding unnecessary interactions over the phone
Tamil Nadu left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore revealed that MS Dhoni’s detachment from mobile phones and social media left a lasting impact on him and changed his own approach to digital life.
Sai Kishore spent a couple of IPL seasons with Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings, but couldn’t break into the XI due to the presence of Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner. During that time, what stood out to him most was Dhoni’s near-complete disinterest in using his phone or being active online.
Dhoni has long been known for staying off social media and avoiding unnecessary interactions over the phone, making him nearly unreachable unless he’s physically around.
Speaking on Provoke TV, Sai Kishore said, “I have learnt a lot about this from MS Dhoni. He would never pick up his phone.
“He used to leave his phone in his hotel room and come for the games. That’s how detached he would be. This inspired me because I used to ask myself if being involved in social media is needed. So looking at him inspired me.”
Although he didn’t get a single game for CSK, Sai Kishore has since become a vital part of the Gujarat Titans set-up. Over the last three seasons, he has played 25 matches for the franchise, taking 32 wickets at an average of 20.34 and an economy rate of 8.85.
He enjoyed a breakthrough IPL campaign earlier this year, finishing with 19 wickets in 15 games at an average of 20.68 and an economy of 9.24. Among spinners, only Noor Ahmad claimed more wickets than him in IPL 2025.
