Mumbai Indians Star Banned For 1 Year From PSL

Corbin Bosch was a diamond pick for the Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, but dropped that opportunity to play the IPL for MI

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) after stepping away from the opportunity of representing Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has been banned for one year by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for withdrawing from the 2025 season.

It’s noteworthy that the PSL is clashing with the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year after Pakistan hosted the Champions Trophy at a time when PSL is generally held in the country.

The PCB served Bosch a legal notice after he withdrew from the PSL post, being selected as a diamond pick in the PSL draft, which was held right after the IPL auction to ensure that the PSL features only those players who are not selected in the IPL.

Bosch released a statement through the PCB apologising for his withdrawal from the league. “I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community," Bosch said in the statement.

"I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions. To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL.

“This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience, and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans."

It’s notable that PSL also wanted to set a precedent by penalising Bosch for his actions, as there might be a chance that future PSL seasons might clash with the IPL. Bosch, meanwhile, is yet to feature in a game in the IPL for the Mumbai Indians.
