Mumbai Indians have roped in Kumar Kartikeya Singh as a replacement for Mohammad Arshad Khan, the franchise announced on Thursday (April 28). The latter, who didn't play a single game, sustained an injury and has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2022.
Kartikeya, who has been picked for INR 20 lakh, has been with the Mumbai squad as a net bowler. The left-arm spinner has played nine first-class, 19 List A and eight T20s for Madhya Pradesh.
"Kartikeya has been impressive in the nets and his learning trajectory on improving and fine tuning his bowling skills have earned him the call up to the main squad," said the press release.
The 24-year-old has picked up nine wickets in the shortest format of the game and has an economy of just 5.7. In the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he took five wickets in as many games at an economy of 5.05.
Having lost all their eight encounters, Mumbai are yet to win a game this season and will next take on Rajasthan Royals on Saturday at the DY Patil Stadium.
