Mushfiqur Rahim joins Root, Lara and Fleming in Elite List With 150 Against Sri Lanka

Bangladesh’s veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim continues to create history as he smashed 163 against Sri Lanka on June 18 (Wednesday) at the Galle International Stadium in Galle during the first Test of the two-match series. This was his second 150-plus score in Sri Lanka.

As a result of this feat of his, the 38-year-old has made it onto a rare list of overseas players with two 150-plus scores in Tests in Sri Lanka. 

Before Rahim, greats of the game such as West Indies’ Brian Lara, New Zealand’s Stephen Fleming, Pakistan’s Younus Khan and Abdullah Shafique and England’s Joe Root had achieved this feat.

In this first Test, Rahim partnered Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, and the two added 264 for the fourth wicket, which is also the sixth-highest Test partnership for Bangladesh and the third highest for a visiting pair on Sri Lankan soil.
