Nasir Hossain among 8 charged for corruption during Abu Dhabi T10 League

The Bangladesh all-rounder, who played for Pune Devils in 2021, finished in the last place, having won just one of their six matches.

Nasir Hossain, who has played 19 Tests, 65 One-Day Internationals (ODI) and 31 T20 Internationals (T20I), is among eight charged for breaching the ICC anti-corruption code for unfair practices and corrupt activities during the Abu Dhabi T10 League in 2021. He last played for his country in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Dhaka in 2018. He has scored over 2,500 runs and picked up 39 wickets for Bangladesh across formats since making his debut in 2011.

Other than Hossain, who played for Pune Devils, the co-owners Krishan Kumar Chaudhary and Parag Sanghvialsoe breached the anti-corruption code. Others involved in the team include Rizwan Javed and Saliya Saman (domestic players), as well as Ashar Zaidi (batting coach), Sunny Dhillon (assistant coach) and Shadab Ahamed (team manager).

Devils last played in the tournament in 2021, where they finished in the last place,e having won just one of their six matches. The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), who acts as the watchdog, pressed charges against the eight believed to be involved. They pressed the charges on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). 

The multiple charges against every member include conspiring to fix matches, placing bets, and failing to disclose approaches, among other charges during the aforementioned season. 

Six of the charged - Krishan Kumar Chaudhary, Parag Sanghvi, Azhar Zaidi, Rizwan Javed, Saliya Saman and Sunny Dhillon - have been provisionally suspended, and all have 14 days from 19 September 2023 to respond to the charges.

Just last month, former West Indies all-rounder Marlon Samuels was found guilty on four charges of corruption during the 2019 Abu Dhabi T20 League. he was signed by Tuskers last season but did not show up in the UAE for the matches.
