Nathan Ellis bags maiden IPL contract: Report

The news comes on the back of the 26-year-old finding a place in Australia’s T20WC squad as a reserve

Australia’s Nathan Ellis, who shot to fame earlier this month by becoming the first bowler to take a hat-trick on T20I debut, has reportedly bagged his maiden IPL contract after agreeing terms with one of the eight franchises.

Ellis, who represents Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, was earlier today included in Australia’s T20 World Cup squad as a standby, and a cricket.com.au report has claimed that the 26-year-old has finalized an IPL deal after being approached by three franchises. The report has however added that Ellis’ IPL deal “is subject to final approval from Cricket Australia.”

The 26-year-old is believed to have been roped in as a replacement player by the unnamed franchise. Known for his ability to nail yorkers at the death, Ellis has had an impressive BBL career, having picked 32 wickets in 29 innings at an economy rate of 8.13. The right-armer has played two T20Is to date, and has claimed 5 wickets at an impressive ER of 6.25.
