Need to work on our skills in the field: De Villiers

The RCB batsman played a major role in handing his team their second win in three IPL 2020 matches

AB de Villiers starred once again with his 35th Indian Premier League (IPL) fifty in the game against Mumbai Indians (MI) – a game Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won in the Super Over after posting 201 for 3 in the initial 20 overs. RCB were well in control of the game, but a valiant partnership between Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan tilted the game back in MI’s favour. All that could have been avoided had RCB held on to their catches, which is something de Villiers feels they need to work on.

"Fantastic game of cricket, without sounding arrogant, we were no doubt the best team on the day against Mumbai. We really made it easier for them in the second innings with the ball in hand, there were mistakes in the field and we need to stop them going ahead in the tournament. It was only our third game, maybe I am being too harsh but we need to get things right, we are going to work on our skills on the field, boys showed great fantastic character and I am proud of that," said De Villiers in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of RCB.

De Villiers also scored a crucial boundary in the Super Over and also kept wickets in the absence of Joshua Philippe.

RCB have now won two out of their three matches in the tournament and take on Rajasthan Royals in their next game on Saturday (October 3). MI on the other hand will look to turn things around swiftly when they take on Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Thursday (October 1).
