Nehra, Solanki to stay at Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025: Reports

While Kirsten left in 2024 to become Pakistan’s white ball head coach, Nehra stayed the head coach, with Solanki being the director of cricket of the franchise

Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki, two of the three pillars of the Gujarat Titans coaching staff along with Gary Kirsten, who guided them to back-to-back finals in their first two seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), are likely to continue at the helm of the franchise at least for the 2025 season, according to a report in Cricbuzz.

While Kirsten left in 2024 to become Pakistan’s white ball head coach, Nehra continued as the head coach with Solanki being the director of cricket of the franchise.  There were talks of a new partner Torrent Pharma taking the majority stake in the Titans and inciting a shake-up. However, as of now, things stand in the favour of the two as they seem to be completing their three-year deal.

“The Titans board, consisting of key executives from CVC Capital - a global private equity firm - including London-based Nick Clarry, Singapore-based Siddharth Patel, and Mumbai-based Amit Soni, conducted a review and it is believed that the board has decided to continue with the duo,” read the report from Cricbuzz.

Nehra appears to have weathered the potential shake-up at Gujarat Titans as amid reports suggesting that Torrent Pharma, an Ahmedabad-based company, was set to acquire a majority and controlling stake in the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, a significant overhaul in the coaching staff was anticipated.

After the success of the first season, the contract of the coaches were reworked. According to media reports, Nehra and Solanki might be drawing a salary close to INR 8 crore.

After back-to-back finals in the 2022 & 2023 edition (GT won IPL 2022), the Titans finished 8th in IPL 2024, with five wins and seven losses.
