The Nepal cricket team created history on September 29 (Monday) as they beat West Indies in the second T20I of the three-match series and secured a series win. This was Nepal’s first ever T20I series win against a Test-playing nation.
With this win, Nepal joined an elusive list of Asian countries who have defeated Test-playing nations to win T20I series. So far, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have achieved that feat as full-member sides. Afghanistan did that as an associate nation as well as a full member.
UAE have also had a historic series win against Bangladesh. Thus, Nepal became the seventh Asian country to register a series win against a full-member in T20Is.
Amongst all associate teams, Nepal became the sixth side to win a bilateral series against a full member side. Before them, Namibia, Scotland and Afghanistan won bilateral series as associate nations against full-member Zimbabwe in 2022, 2021 and 2017 respectively.
On the other hand, the UAE and USA beat Bangladesh in three-match series in 2025 and 2024 respectively.
After winning the first match by 19 runs, Nepal bowled West Indies out for 83 and won the second game by a margin of 90 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.
