Netherlands coach Campbell out of coma after suffering heart attack

The 50-year old is still in the ICU as doctors are monitoring his heart beat, according to his brother Mark Campbell

Netherlands head coach Ryan Campbell, who was admitted in a London hospital after a suffering a massive heart attack on Saturday, is out of coma but is still in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

According to his brother Mark, Campbell is being monitored by the doctors for irregular heart beat.

In a statement the ICC said that the doctors had made a successful move on Tuesday night, with no evidence of brain damage.

"They've taken the heavy sedation off, so he's actually woken up. Now they're just look at trying to work out what's wrong with his heart," Mark Campbell said in the ICC statement.

"They're not sure now why his heart is still being arrhythmic. So that's another issue that they're now going to look at over there."

Campbell, who was appointed as the Dutch coach in 2017, was returning to Europe after the Netherlands' tour of New Zealand. He played for Hong Kong in the 2016 T20 World Cup in India at the age of 44.
