Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 ✅
Pre-season clash against Mumbai ✅
After a stellar start to his Maharashtra career, it seemed like Prithvi Shaw would return to glory days during the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 campaign. However, that dream quickly faded as the now Maharashtra opener got out for a four-ball duck against Kerala, on October 15 (Wednesday).
Heading into this clash, Shaw had smashed a stroke-filled 181 (220) against Mumbai in a pre-season game before he was eventually dismissed in the deep. There were a lot of expectations that he would continue that form, but he failed in his first opportunity.
On a green top in Trivandrum, Maharashtra were inserted into bat, and they had no response to Kerala’s top-notch bowling. Fellow opener, Arshin Kulkarni, too, couldn’t make any impact, getting out for a first-ball duck, as Maharashtra found themselves tottering at 0/3.
Skipper Ankit Bawne too couldn’t make any difference, as the batter got out for a seven-ball duck as Maharashtra’s fortunes of a good start to the Ranji Trophy campaign quickly dwindled. At the time of writing this report, Kerala were all over Maharashtra, with the latter finding themselves in all kinds of trouble, at 23/5.
However, Ruturaj Gaikwad is still at the crease, batting on 6 off 30 balls.
