New Twist in Sanju Samson-CSK Trade; Ravindra Jadeja & Sam Curran Set to be Included
Latest reports point out that CSK are likely to trade Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran for Sanju Samson
It is happening, as five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Chennai Super Kings are set to trade key all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, for Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson. According to ESPNCricinfo, the two franchises have reached out to the respective players ahead of the retention window in an effort to expedite the trade.
The same publication also stated that both parties are yet to get the players' written consent. Once that’s done, the two franchises will have to get the trade ratified by the governing council and send an expression of interest for the same.
Both Samson and Jadeja have been long-standing faces of the two franchises, with the latter playing a vital part in CSK’s fifth IPL title, where they won against the Gujarat Titans off the very last ball. The all-rounder has been CSK’s biggest asset over the years, as the veteran has amassed 3260 runs and picked up 170 wickets.
On the other hand, Samson has been RR’s captain for the last few years and impressed in the 2022 season, where they reached the final. Samson has 4704 runs in his IPL career, averaging 30.94, with a strike rate of 139.04.
Barring these two, the publication stated that Curran is included in the trade package. The all-rounder has only represented two franchises in his IPL career – Punjab Kings and CSK – with the Royals set to be his third franchise. If the trade goes through, it is likely to be the biggest shake-up in IPL history.
