New Zealand Veteran Calls Time On 11-Year International Career
The pacer made a total of 86 international appearances
New Zealand medium pacer Hayley Jensen has officially called time on her international career, bringing to an end an 11-year career that saw her make a total of 86 international appearances.
Jensen took a total of 76 wickets in her career for the White Ferns (48 in T20Is and 28 in WODIs), but the 32-year-old was known more for her defensive bowling, with the medium pacer boasting an economy of 4.94 in WODIs and 6.58 in T20Is.
Her last international appearance for New Zealand came in the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup against South Africa, where she registered figures of 1/13 and claimed the wicket of Chloe Tryon.
"Ever since I was 10 years old, I came home from my first cricket tournament and knew I wanted to be a White Fern," Jensen said.
"To have had the chance to live that dream is something I'll always treasure.
"It's been an incredible journey - filled with challenges, growth, unforgettable experiences, and the best group of people I could've hoped to share it with.
"It's never easy to move on from something that's meant this much, but I know in my heart it's time. I'm proud of what we've achieved together and even prouder to have been part of the White Ferns environment."
Congratulating Jensen on a fantastic career, head coach Ben Sawyer said: "I want to congratulate Hayley on a fantastic international career and thank her for her contributions to the White Ferns environment.
"Hayley has made key contributions to the team with both bat and ball on the field and always brought a genuine passion and love for the game. We wish her all the best for whatever the future holds."
The 32-year-old is still active in domestic cricket. She recently featured in the North v South Women's One-Day Series, where, representing the South Island Women, she took 2 wickets aside from scoring 116 runs.
