New Zealand Wicketkeeper-Batter To Replace Jacob Bethell At RCB

The temporary replacement, initiated into IPL 2025 as a new rule, will come into effect from May 24 onwards

New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert is all set to replace England’s batting all-rounder Jacob Bethell in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025.

Bethell, who scored a fifty against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), will leave for national duty on May 24, after RCB’s game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Lucknow on May 23.

Thus, the temporary replacement, initiated into IPL 2025 as a new rule, will come into effect from May 24 onwards.

Seifert, a proven T20 talent, will join the red and gold brigade for INR 2 Cr. So far in his 11-year-old career, the Wanganui-born has featured in 260 T20s, scoring 5862 runs at an average of 27.65 and a strike rate of 133.07.

RCB have already qualified for the playoffs, and therefore it would only be better for Seifert to join the team with one league stage game to go to understand the dynamics. Earlier, the RCB had signed Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani as a temporary replacement for Lungi Ngidi.
