Nida Dar Takes 'Temporary Break' From Cricket To Prioritise Mental Health

The former Pakistan Women's captain was also not part of the recent World Cup Qualifiers due to fitness issues

Former Pakistan Women's Captain Nida Dar announced that she will take a "temporary break" from cricket to prioritise her mental health. She made the announcement on her Instagram handle on April 25 (Friday).

"After careful consideration, I have decided to take a temporary break from cricket to prioritise my mental health and well-being. Recent personal and professional challenges have taken a toll on my mental health, and I need to take some time to focus on myself," she wrote.

"I appreciate your understanding and respect for my privacy during this time. I am grateful for the support of my loved ones and look forward to returning to the Cricket Field when I am ready."

Before this announcement, Dar had joined the Pakistan side ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifiers camp. However, she did not make the final squad due to fitness issues.

Moreover, she has also decided to skip the upcoming National Women's T20 Cup, prioritising her mental health. Dar is Pakistan's most capped player in T20Is and the first Pakistani cricketer (male or female) to pick up 100 wickets in the format.
