No Indian Match Official Named For ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Six out of the 12 members listed are among umpires who have already officiated in ICC 2017 Champions Trophy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on February 5 (Wednesday), announced the names of the match officials for the Champions Trophy (CT) 2025. Surprisingly, no Indian has been named in the list, neither among the umpires nor the match referees.

The tournament, which will be played primarily in Pakistan, except for India matches, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will begin on February 19 and run until March 9.

A total of 12 umpires and three match referees have been selected by the ICC for the 50-over tournament. Six of the 12 umpires in the list also officiated in the last edition of the tournament, held in England in 2017.

Those six are – Richard Kettleborough, Chris Gaffaney, Kumar Dharmasena, Richard Illingworth, Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker.

Kettleborough and Illingworth, who stood together for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad, are joined by Michael Gough, Adrian Holdstock, Ahsan Raza, Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, Alex Wharf and Joel Wilson, all of whom officiated at the World Cup in India.

The three match referees named for the tournament are – David Boon, Ranjan Madugalle and Andrew Pycroft.

Boon was the referee in the 2017 final, while Pycroft also officiated in the tournament. Madugalle returns after officiating the 2013 final.

Sean Easey, ICC Senior Manager – Umpires and Referees, said, “We always try to name the most suitable and deserving officials for any event, and we are confident this group will do a fine job across the matches in Pakistan and the UAE.”

Umpires: Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, Michael Gough, Adrian Holdstock, Richard Illingworth, Richard Kettleborough, Ahsan Raza, Paul Reiffel, Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, Rodney Tucker, Alex Wharf, Joel Wilson.

Match Referees: David Boon, Ranjan Madugalle, Andrew Pycroft.
