In a much-anticipated encounter, India will lock horns with Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 on September 14 in Dubai. The Indian government has also given the green signal for the tournament, as long as the two teams do not engage in bilateral matches.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the BCCI have agreed that their national teams - men and women - will not play each other in their country but have no issues with playing at neutral venues. The Women's ODI World Cup involving Pakistan will all be played in Colombo, as a result.
The Asia Cup 2025, which was to be hosted in India, is now being played in the UAE to make sure Pakistan do not have to play on Indian soil. As a result, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi says that there is no more begging for negotiations with the BCCI anymore.
“I think we are very clear that whenever talks are held, it will be on an equal footing with India, and there will be no more begging for negotiations,” Naqvi told reporters in Lahore.
"That time has passed, and whatever will happen will be on the basis of equality."
Pakistan will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Oman on September 12, two days before their clash against India.
