South Africa’s left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba finds herself in trouble as she's been reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. The incident happened during South Africa’s group stage clash against India, where the left-arm spinner was seen greeting Harleen Deol with a wave after dismissing her with a jaffa.
“Mlaba was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match,” ICC said in a statement.
Alongside the reprimand, one demerit point is added to Mlaba’s disciplinary record – her first offence in a 24-month period.
The left-arm spinner has been one of the in-form bowlers thus far in the tournament, with six wickets in three matches. South Africa have got themselves off to a great start in the ongoing World Cup, with wins over New Zealand and India, after failing miserably in their opener against England, where they were bowled out for 69.
