Afghanistan’s left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad had a debut to remember for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Chepauk on March 23 (Sunday).
Noor claimed 4/18 in his four overs, registering the best figures for CSK on debut. The spinner from Afghanistan broke Mustafizur Rahman’s record, who picked up 4/22 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2024.

Noor, who played 23 games for Gujarat Titans (GT) across the last two seasons, got his first wicket in his second over, breaking the 51-run stand between Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.
SKY was undone by the wrong’un and missed the ball, and MS Dhoni removed the bails in just 0.12 seconds. Then, in his third over, the wrist spinner got rid of Robin Minz and Tilak to break the back of MI’s middle order.
Noor finished his spell by knocking over Naman Dhir from behind his legs. In the process, he also registered the best figures by a CSK spinner against Mumbai.
