Northamptonshire rope in Chris Lynn for 2022 Vitality Blast season

The 32-year-old is set to be available for all 14 group stage fixtures and the knockout matches

Northamptonshire have confirmed that Australiaโ€™s Chris Lynn, who is the all-time run-getter in the Big Bash League, will be representing the club for the entirety of the 2022 Vitality Blast season that is set to commence in May. The club, which finished bottom of its group in the 2021 Vitality Blast season, had earlier announced the signing of New Zealandโ€™s Jimmy Neesham, and now Lynn joins the Kiwi superstart as the teamโ€™s second overseas signing for the season.

Lynn has not played any professional cricket since representing Brisbane Heat in the BBL in January, but the 32-year-old is set to be available for all 14 group stage fixtures and the knockout matches.ย

Having never previously played T20 cricket in England, the Australian expressed his excitement over having struck a deal with Northamptonshire.

"I have always wanted to play county cricket and I'm really looking forward to joining up with Northamptonshire for the Vitality Blast," Lynn said, reported ESPN Cricinfo.

"The UK is a great place to play and I am hopeful that I can contribute with some good performances and also try to entertain the Steelback fans this summer."

Lynn, however, will enter the Vitality Blast on the back of a pretty poor BBL campaign. Having relinquished captaincy, Lynn played 12 games for Brisbane Heat in BBL 11, but only averaged 17.91, managing a solitary fifty-plus score. There were also no takers for the 32-year-old in the 2022 IPL Mega Auction.
