Nortje 2nd player from DC to test positive for Covid-19: Reports

Axar Patel is the other player from DC who tested positive for the coronavirus ahead of IPL 2021

Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Anrich Nortje is the latest cricketer Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 to test positive for Covid-19. "He came in with a negative report, but has unfortunately tested positive now while undergoing quarantine," a source told ANI.

According to the BCCI SOP, anyone who tests positive must isolate himself in the designated areas outside the bio-secure bubble for a minimum of 10 days from the first day of symptoms or the date of collection of sample, which resulted in the positive test, whichever is earlier.

The likes of Nitish Rana, Axar Patel, Daniel Sams and Devdutt Padikkal are some of the names who have tested positive for the coronavirus. Other than them, many members of th Wankhede Stadium ground staff too were infected.

This is a huge blow for DC, who do not have the services of their regular skipper Shreyas Iyer due to injury and their all-rounder Axar is still recovering from Covid-19.

CSK got off to a great start in their opening match of the season, beating three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets.
