The third Test between India and England at Lord's saw plenty of tempers flare. It reached its tipping point at the end of Day 3, when India captain Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley got into it when the latter was wasting time to ensure that not more than one over was bowled before stumps.
Words were exchanged between the two teams throughout the match, which England won by 22 runs in the end, after setting India 193. Reflecting on everything that transpired at Lord's, England batter Ollie Pope said that he is not that much of a sledger.
“Not really. I am not a massive sledger,” Pope said on Sky Sports, as reported by the Indian Express.
Pope believes that with the increase of franchise cricket players spending plenty of time with one another, sledging has reduced compared to how it was a decade ago.
"There's less and less of it [sledging] in the game, I think, at the minute with franchise cricket. You get to know the opposition well. It’s not as much as probably ten years ago,” he added.
With the win at Lord's, England lead the five-match Test series 2-1. The two teams will clash in the next Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, from July 23 onwards.
