Tom Latham to lead New Zealand in Pakistan ODIs

New Zealand will be touring Pakistan for a 5 T20I and 5 ODI series

Tom Latham will continue leading the ODI squad in Kane Williamson's absence. The squad includes two potential debutants in Ben Lister and Cole McConchie.

Lister was also a part of the ODI squad for home series against Sri Lanka, but did not get any game time. McConchie was the second highest run-getter across formats indomestic cricket, and also took 8 wickets to go with it.

The squad will also be benefitted by the inclusion of Saqlain Mushtaq as their assistant coach.

"Having someone with Saqlain’s experience is a big boost for the group and we are looking forward to the insights he can offer us to aid our preparations for local conditions, and in particular the assistance he can provide to our spin bowling group," Gary Stead, NZ head coach, said

While they might be without many of their first XI players, but they will take heart from the fact that around nine players from the squad also have recent experience in Pakistan, featuring in either the Test or ODI Squads that played in Karachi earlier this year.

"We’ve enjoyed a number of exciting matches against Pakistan across both white ball formats in the last season home and way. They are a tough team no matter where you take them on," he added

The T20I series begins on April 14 in Lahore, and the ODI series begins on April 26 in Rawalpindi.
