Ottis Gibson quits as Bangladesh's bowling coach, to join Multan Sultans

Gibson replaced Charl Langeveldt as Bangladesh's fast bowling coach in January 2020

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday confirmed the exit of Ottis Gibson as their senior men's team's fast bowling coach. The former West Indies pacer decided not to renew his contract after completing his two-year contract and is set to join the Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Multan Sultans from the end of this month.

"Ottis Gibson didn't want to renew his contract which we accepted," BCB's cricket operations committee chairman Jalal Yunus told ESPNcricinfo. "Local coaches will look after the fast-bowling department temporarily. We hope to replace Gibson with another foreign coach shortly."

Since replace Charl Langeveldt in 2020, Gibson has been at the forefront of Bangladesh's emphasis on developing their pace bowling arsenal. He played a vital role in the development of Ebadot Hossain whose 6-46 set up the Tigers' first ever Test victory on New Zealand soil earlier this month.

BCB has not revealed any information about potential replacement for Gibson. PSL champions Multan Sultans will begin their 2022 campaign on January 27 against Karachi Kings.
