The Oval Invincibles broke a three-year-old record as they posted the highest ever total in the Hundred Men’s competition on August 17 (Saturday). They posted 226/4, which is well beyond Manchester Originals’ score of 208/5 that they scored against the Northern Superchargers at Leeds in the 2022 edition of the competition.
Playing against the Welsh Fire, the London-based side were boosted by a 29-ball 86 from Jordan Cox at number three. Before that, Tawanda Muyeye had smashed a 15-ball 33 to set up a great launchpad for the batters to follow.
Apart from Muyeye and Cox, Will Jacks (38) and Sam Curran (34) also enjoyed the great batting conditions.
Cox hit 10 sixes in the innings, joining Liam Livingstone as the player with joint-most sixes in a Hundred game. Livingstone had hit 10 sixes in his 92-run knock against the Northern Superchargers in 2021, playing for Birmingham Phoenix.
This Invincibles' innings also saw a total of 35 boundaries hit by the team, which is also the most by a team in a Hundred game. The previous record was held by the Originals, who had hit 29 boundaries in their aforementioned innings against the Superchargers in 2022.
Welsh Fire were no match at all to the Invincibles as they could only muster 143, losing the match by 83 runs. This was the third biggest margin of win by runs in the competition's history.
