During the Deodhar Trophy, Karnataka’s Devdutt Padikkal sustained a thumb injury, which ruled him out of the competition. While the extent of the injury wasn’t known at that point, it has ruled the left-handed batter out of the ongoing Maharaja T20 league, where he was set to represent the Gulbarga Mystics.
The 23-year-old revealed that he has undergone surgery for the left thumb, which rules him out of cricket for the next three-four weeks. Sai Sudharsan earlier replaced the southpaw in South Zone’s camp. The southpaw also updated social media, stating that he is eager to return to the field.
“I had a left-thumb fracture during the Deodhar Trophy. So, I had to undergo a minor surgery to get that fixed. I will be out of the game for probably another three to four weeks. Hopefully, I can be back on the field soon,” Padikkal told Fancode.
“Just a quick update. Sustained a fracture on my left thumb and had to undergo surgery. The road to recovery begins now and I'm eager to return to the field soon.”
