Pakistan are on track in our preparations for T20 World Cup: Babar

The Pakistan captain was named player of the series in T20Is for scoring 210 runs at a strike-rate of 143.84

Following a comprehensive 3-1 win over South Africa in the T20I series, Pakistan captain Babar Azam says that the preparations for the T20 World Cup in India are on the right track. Babar won the player of the series award for scoring 210 runs at a strike-rate of 143.84. "It's great to win both the white-ball series in South Africa and this will give us a lot of confidence for the coming matches," Babar said.

"The series has helped us try out different combinations and I think we are on track in our preparations for the T20 World Cup, by which time we will have our squad ready for the big event," he added.

The Pakistan captain was however not too pleased with the way the middle and the lower-order performed in the series. "Yes, it is frustrating that our middle and lower-order batsmen couldn't perform to expectations, but cricket is a team game and not everyone can perform in every match," he said.

Overall, Babar was happy with the way Pakistan performed as a team. "I think as a team we did well, we supported each other and the bowlers also staged some strong comebacks in the series although we couldn't take early wickets. The more you are successful against good opposition and in different conditions it helps you develop and become a better batsman," Babar said.

The action now shifts to Zimbabwe where Pakistan will play three T20Is and a couple of Tests against the hosts, starting April 21.
