The Pakistan cricket team have boosted their T20 World Cup 2026 preparations by organising a tour of Sri Lanka for their team. The short tour will see the hosts take on the visitors in a three-match T20I series in Dambulla.
As per a statement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), all three matches will be played on January 7, 9 and 11 and the tour will provide Pakistan with valuable match practice ahead of next year's global event.
Pakistan, as per the new ICC neutral venue arrangements, will play their matches of the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka and not India. The designated venue for their matches will be Colombo, where they will face their Group A counterparts, i.e. India, Namibia, Netherlands and the United States.
The World Cup is scheduled to kick-off on February 7th and after the Sri Lanka visit, Pakistan will also host Australia for a three-match series in the last week of January.
That series against the Aussies will round up a great preparatory campaign for the Men in Green who have played various T20I series leading up to the World Cup.
Since the Pakistan Super League (PSL) ended in May 2025, Pakistan have played home and away T20I series against Bangladesh, featured in two Tri-Series, one involving the UAE and Afghanistan and the other involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe and faced West Indies and South Africa away and at home respectively, in bilateral engagements.
Along with all that, they also featured in the Asia Cup 2025 and reached the final as well.
