The Pakistan cricket team made nine changes when they announced the squad for the Bangladesh T20Is on May 21 (Wednesday) to their last T20I squad, which toured New Zealand earlier this year. Even after so many changes, there was no place for the stalwarts of present-day Pakistan cricket- Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi- in the squad.
While Rizwan and Babar were not even in the T20I squad on the tour of New Zealand, Shaheen, who did play the T20Is, but failed to impress, has now been shown the door.
This also marks the first assignment of the newly appointed Pakistan white-ball coach, Mike Hesson.
Salman Ali Agha remains the captain of the Pakistan T20 side. The three-match series, whose schedule is yet to be confirmed, will be played in Lahore.
“All three matches will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with the schedule set to be announced soon,” a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) release read.
Amongst the new names is Shahibzada Farhan, who has previously featured in nine T20Is, but without much success. Saim Ayub, who got injured ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, has returned to action as well. Hasan Ali is back in Pakistan’s T20I side, having last played a T20I against Ireland in May 2024, while his second last appearance in T20I was in 2022.
Amongst the other changes are Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hussain Talat, Mohammad Wasim, Naeem Shah, who have come in places of Abdul Samad, Jahandad Khan, Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Omair Bin Yousuf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Usman Khan respectively.
