Pakistan have recalled Babar Azam and Naseem Shah for the upcoming T20Is against South Africa and the tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Sufiyan Muqeem, who were part of the Asia Cup 2025, have been named as reserves.
The Men in Green will first face South Africa in a three-match T20I series from October 28 to November 1, before participating in a tri-nation series starting November 17. All fixtures will be hosted in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Other notable inclusions in the T20I squad are left-arm seamer Mohammad Salman Mirza, wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan, and uncapped spinner Usman Tariq. Both Babar and Naseem last featured in T20Is for Pakistan in 2024, and their return could indicate that the management is planning to have them in next year’s T20 World Cup squad. Salman Ali Agha will continue to lead the side despite Pakistan’s Asia Cup struggles against India.
In addition to the T20Is, Pakistan will play three ODIs against South Africa (November 4-8) and three ODIs against Sri Lanka (November 11-15) next month. Mohammad Rizwan is included in the ODI squad, but the captaincy has been handed over to Shaheen Shah Afridi. Left-arm wristspinner Faisal Akram and wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah have also been added to the ODI setup.
