Pakistan to host 2023 Asia Cup on home soil

Jay Shah chaired the ACC meeting on Friday and the board unanimously agreed to allot the event to Pakistan

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, which was held in Dubai on Friday (October 15), have decided to grant the 2023 Asia Cup hosting rights to Pakistan. The 2023 edition will be organized in ODI format with the 2022 edition set to be played in the T20 format in Sri Lanka next year.

Jay Shah chaired the ACC meeting on Friday and the board unanimously agreed to allot the event to Pakistan. Further, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declared that it will not host the event at a neutral venue, but in Pakistan only. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raza, who attended the event, clearly his stance in the meeting only.

While the exact schedule is yet to be cleared, it is learnt that ACC may host the event in the middle of the year, with October-November earmarked as the time frame for the World Cup. The window for the 2022 Asia Cup was also discussed, with members finalising September as the possible time for the event.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also invited Ramiz Raza to attend the IPL Final in Dubai but Raza had to politely decline with his return flight to Pakistan already booked.
