The two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh starts tomorrow (August 21) at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Both countries are low on the World Test Championship (WTC) table and will look to earn some crucial points to rise.
Pakistan still have an outside chance of finishing in the top two if they win at least seven in nine of the upcoming Test matches. However that would also be affected by other teams and their results. They have already decided to go with a pace bowling attack on a track in Rawalpindi that is supposed to be very pace-friendly. By announcing the playing eleven a day before the Test, Pakistan have also shown their faith in this tactic.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will rely heavily on the spin trio of Mehidy Hasan, Taijul Islam, and Shakib Al Hasan. Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam will lead the pace attack. The visitors will have to be careful, as the pace-heavy hosts can inflict serious damage on their batting order. The second Test is also scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi.
What are the two squads?
Pakistan: Shan Masood (c), Saud Shakeel (vc), Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Shaheen Afridi.
