Pakistan's Abid Ali diagnosed with ACS, undergoes angioplasty

Abid Ali has been diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome which is usually associated with sudden reduced blood flow to the heart

Pakistan batter Abid Ali on Wednesday underwent angioplasty after being hospitalized due to chest pain he suffered while batting in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The 34-year old was diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome which is usually associated with sudden reduced blood flow to the heart.

Abid will undergo another angioplasty on Thursday before being discharged.

"He is under the care of Consultant Cardiologist who is liaising with PCB medical team regarding further treatment. He is currently stable," an official statement by the PCB read.

Abid, who was named player of the series for Pakistan's Test series against Bangladesh, was playing for his domestic team Central Punjab at the UBL Complex in Karachi when he complained discomfort around shoulder and chest when he was rushed to the hospital.
