The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a hike in the salaries of their centrally contracted players for the 2025-26 season, according to PTI. The Men's players are expected to get a 37% increase as the PCB board of governors have approved a budget of PKR 18.30 billion, including PKR 1,137 million allocated for the centrally contracted players.
Moreover, 30 players will get central contracts this time around, an increase from 25, which was the case till last season.
The increase comes despite the Men's side's poor performances in the recent past, including crashing out at the group stages of the Champions Trophy at home and a 2-0 Test series defeat at the hands of Bangladesh, also at home.
With the revamping of the domestic structure, the contracts awarded to domestic players has been reduced to 34%. As far as Women's cricket is concerned, the number of centrally contracted cricketers is set to go up from 16 to 24, and they will collectively receive a hike of 121%. Women's domestic cricket structure has also received a huge boost, with the budget going up by 4%.
The PCB will also invest a further PKR 6 million in completing the infrastructure of major stadiums like Gaddafi Stadium (Lahore), National Stadium (Karachi), and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. As much as PKR 18 million has already been invested in this project.
