Pakistan’s all-rounder Khushdil Shah got into an ugly altercation with a bunch of Pakistan fans after they were whitewashed 0-3 in the three-match ODI series on April 5 (Saturday). The incident occurred after the clash, where the all-rounder had to be held back after he charged at a bunch of fans.
While there are quite a few reports claiming that the fans who were involved in the verbal tussle were Afghanistan fans who got abusive in Pashto, hurling anti-Pakistan slogans, it remains unconfirmed.
In a rain-curtailed game, New Zealand, who were put into bat, smashed 264 runs in just 42 overs. Michael Bracewell with his quick-fire 59 off 40 balls, alongside Rhys Mariu’s 61-ball 58 were the top run-scorers.
Chasing 265, Pakistan got themselves off to the best start possible, as the two batters - Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam -added 73 without any loss. Despite having such a comfortable cushion, none of the lower-order batters could do anything, as the Asian side fell short by 43 runs.
Infamously, in the post-match presentation, Pakistan's skipper Mohammad Rizwan also made a controversial statement that the Men in Green will leave the past and enjoy the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
"After Champions Trophy and this series, we'll leave the past. PSL is a big tournament for us in Pakistan, hopefully our nation will enjoy. Hopefully we'll do well in PSL," Rizwan said in the post-match presentation.
